Night Has Fallen - Vocal Solo
Night Has Fallen, also known as Sin and Grace is a somber yet reflective piece perfect for Lent. The text describes the stark contrast of a sinners lost condition with the perfect comfort of God's grace. As the chord structure is complicated, it is probably most accessible with piano accompaniment alone.
I wrote the original melody and accompaniment concept in 1997 with a secular text in mind. I never liked the text, so I wrote this text in 2018. As my original setting was when I was still a student, I had several sections requiring musical revision. I am pleased with the result. Let me know if you like it.
