Jesus Christ, Our Lord Most Holy - SATB Good Friday
Here is my first finished piece of 2019. The Good Friday piece is intended for SATB choir and soloist. It could be sung with only piano as accompaniment. But, I also provided a simple lead sheet with praise band markings for flexibility. Because the melody repeats each verse, it could easily be a congregational selection.
I used an old text that is hard to find anymore. The hymn text, Jesus Christ, Our Lord Most Holy is a translation of a 1550 German text by Michal Grodzki. I slightly adapted the 1939 translation by John Bajus as found in the 1941, The Lutheran Hymnal. My adaptations were mainly slight modernization modifications.
