I Am Delivered (Hannah's Song)
There are not many settings of Hannah's Song. While most people associate Hannah as the one waiting so long to have a child, which would be Samuel. Her song is quite applicable to anyone on the recieving end of bullying, persecution, abuse, or injustice. All of us feel at times vengeful, but her song reminds us that God's got it handled. I think her text is very relevent for people today. I hope my setting is accessible and get's her point accross.
The one stylistic element I am not sure works, but I think it does. I wrote in 3/4, but in the affirmation of justice I switched to 4/4. I did this to punctuate the concept of being weighed in scales (a common icon representing justice).
